Graduation Procedures

Students Return and Graduation Procedures for Sino-American CHEPD
Undergraduate/Graduate Transfer Program

1.  No Diploma or Certificate is awarded to students before the Graduation Ceremony for any reason. After confirmation with CCIEE and the Chinese and American partner universities, the Presidents or representatives from both universities will issue Diplomas and Degree Certificates to graduates at the Graduation Ceremony of “Sino-American CHEPD Undergraduate/Graduate Transfer Program” (THE CHEPD 1+2+1 Program)  in China, held in late June every year.

2.  American universities should notify CCIEE one month before the students’ returning date. CCIEE will inform the Chinese universities accordingly.

3.  After students return to their Chinese universities, the American universities should, within one month, communicate with CCIEE and the Chinese universities about the fourth year courses that the student should take at the Chinese university in terms of credit hours, courses description, and course completion time.

4.  Chinese universities should transfer U.S. credits into Chinese credits based upon the students’ second and third year’s transcripts from U.S. universities.

5.  Some US universities may require that graduating students finish all the courses required by American universities before April 15, and in these cases, Chinese universities should report the student’s final transcripts to CCIEE by April 15. CCIEE will forward this information to the partner U.S. universities for graduation registration.

6.  CCIEE should confirm with Chinese and American universities about the graduates’ name list before May 25.

7.  If a student returns in December and brings back more than 3 subjects for meeting the US university requirements, this student will not be able to graduate in June the next academic year; if the student returns in December and bring no U.S. required course, the Chinese university will make decisions about whether to allow the student to graduate in June and inform CCIEE and the American partner university.

8.  If a returning student can complete all the academic requirements by the end of July, with written confirmation from both the Chinese and American universities, the student will be allowed to walk on stage during the graduation. The actual diplomas will be issued within several months, according to the requirements of the universities issuing the diploma.
